I’m AJ. Over the last decade, I’ve built and automated several six- and seven-figure businesses.

My mission with Small Business Bonfire (SBB) is to help you scale your business (in a fraction of the time it took me).

So, let’s talk about a platform I’ve used and recommended to many clients at my agency—FieldPulse.

The SBB team and I tested FieldPulse with REAL home services businesses and put it through the wringer in several categories.

Let’s dive in!

Pros and Cons of the FieldPulse

It’s just as important to examine the downsides as the positives, so let’s talk about the pros and cons of FieldPulse.

FieldPulse Pros

FieldPulse Cons

Who is FieldPulse Best Suited For?

FieldPulse has a ton of use cases, but let’s narrow it down a little!

Here’s who we think FieldPulse is best suited for:

Small field service businesses – FieldPulse is the perfect software for small service businesses that need to quickly scale their operations and streamline processes. The best part is that you can try the software for 7 days (no commitment needed) to see if it’s the right fit.Midsize field service businesses – Midsize businesses can get the most out of FieldPulse with its automated workflows and impressive customer data management. The mobile app also allows teams to manage jobs in real time, resulting in faster turnaround times and improved customer satisfaction.Large enterprises – For larger companies looking for a robust field service management solution, FieldPulse is a great choice. The powerful invoicing and payment features make it easy for teams to manage finances, while the team management tools ensure everyone (even large teams) is on the same page.

Who is FieldPulse Not Suited For?

FieldPulse is one of the best in its field (no pun intended), but it’s not for everyone.

Here are a few situations where FieldPulse isn’t the best fit:

Freelancers – While FieldPulse offers many features, it may be too powerful for freelancers who don’t need the full suite.Startups – FieldPulse can be a bit on the pricey side for startups who are just getting off the ground. It’s worth considering, but make sure to weigh the benefits against your budget before making a decision.

FieldPulse Software Pricing

FieldPulse offers a one-size-fits-all pricing plan at $99/month and allows additional users for $60/user.

How Does FieldPulse Pricing Compare?

Let’s see how FieldPulse stacks up against the competition regarding features and pricing.

Here’s the breakdown:

FieldPulse – $99/month, $60 per additional user

7-day free trialPowerful customer managementAdvanced job formsFantastic scheduling capabilitiesExcellent project & team management

Housecall Pro – $49/month per user

14-day free trialBasic customer managementAdvanced job formsFantastic scheduling capabilitiesBasic project & team management

HoneyBook – $8/month per user

7-day free trialBasic customer managementBasic job formsBasic scheduling capabilitiesBasic project & team management

Jobber – $45/month per user

No free trialBasic customer managementAdvanced job formsFantastic scheduling capabilitiesBasic project & team management

As you can see, the competition is pretty close. All four platforms are fantastic FSM platforms in their own right.

In terms of pricing, we’ve got to give it to HoneyBook here at only $8/month per user.

However, regarding features, HoneyBook doesn’t hold a candle to FieldPulse. While it may be a bit pricier, the SBB team and I understand that cheaper doesn’t always mean better.

That’s why we declare FieldPulse the winner in terms of overall value for money and features!

FieldPulse Pricing Tips

Free Trial
FieldPulse offers a 7-day free trial for new users, allowing them to thoroughly test and evaluate the software and its features before committing to a paid subscription. This free trial period can be instrumental in determining whether FieldPulse is the right fit for your business, giving you a hands-on experience of the system’s capabilities without any initial financial investment.

Simple Pricing
With a single plan priced at $99/month, FieldPulse keeps it refreshingly simple. For businesses looking to scale up quickly, additional users can be added to the plan for just $60/user. This is ideal for larger teams looking to streamline their operations and optimize their processes.

FieldPulse Core Features

Customer Management

Effectively managing clients is crucial to a thriving home service business.

Being able to manage customer records effectively can be the difference between success and failure (especially for service-based businesses).

Luckily, FieldPulse offers a seamless customer management system that has the power to revolutionize your business operations.

Let’s look at a specific example of a client I helped at my agency—a residential cleaning service owner—who scaled her business with FieldPulse.

In the past, she struggled with juggling multiple spreadsheets to keep track of her contacts.

In fact, she even lost customer data entirely on a few occasions.

However, since implementing FieldPulse, her contact management process has done a complete 180.

Gone are the days of extensive spreadsheets; now, she can focus more on what matters— delivering exceptional service.

Let’s look at how easy it was for her to add new contacts (shown below) with FieldPulse.

Within each contact card, she was able to add and manage the following information easily:

Customer StatusAccount TypeLead SourceContact InformationCustomer AddressTagsNotesFiles

Having all this information in one place made it easy for her (and her team) to make sure all customer data was up-to-date and accurate.

She could also easily create custom fields for customers that required specific cleaning requirements, making it easier for her staff to keep up with customers’ needs.

Here’s a sneak peek into her customer dashboard while using FieldPulse.

Our takeaway: FieldPulse’s powerful customer management system makes creating and storing contact cards (with all the details you need) a walk in the park.

This helps streamline processes, save time, and maintain accurate records for smoother operations.

Team Management

FieldPulse’s team management tools are second to none, making it easy to manage team members regardless of size.

With FieldPulse, you can easily do the following in one place:

Track your team’s timeSchedule appointmentsAssign tasksManage team members (roles, hours, etc.)

This means less time wasted on administrative work and more time spent on delivering better customer service to your customers.

But don’t just take my word for it.

Here are some quotes from my clients who have loved using FieldPulse for team management:

“FieldPulse’s team management tool has completely revolutionized how we handle scheduling and task assignment. It’s like having a personal assistant for each team member!””The employee time tracking feature has been a game-changer. No more manually filling out timesheets and calculating hours—FieldPulse does it all for us.””FieldPulse has made our team more efficient and organized! We can now focus on what we do best —serving our customers.”

These are just a few examples of how FieldPulse’s team management feature can revolutionize how home service businesses operate (and why it’s a favorite among clients I’ve managed).

The bottom line: If you’re looking for a way to streamline your team management processes, FieldPulse could be the solution you’ve been looking for.

Scheduling and Dispatch

Regarding scheduling and dispatch, FieldPulse is powerful enough to make any home service business run more efficiently.

This feature came as a lifeline for one of my clients at the agency, an HVAC company that was struggling with scheduling issues (during a particularly sweltering July).

Their demand was high, but things could have easily spiraled out of control (without an efficient way to manage service requests).

However, with FieldPulse, they were able to streamline their scheduling, ensuring that no customer was left sweating it out.

Here are some of the features they appreciated most about FieldPulse:

Smart scheduling: FieldPulse allowed them to quickly and efficiently schedule jobs, ensuring no requests were missed (or double-booked).Real-time updates: The team could receive real-time updates about job statuses, allowing for quick adjustments to the schedule if needed.Team assignments: FieldPulse made it easy to assign jobs to team members based on their availability, ensuring the optimal use of resources.Customer notifications: FieldPulse could also automatically notify customers about their appointment status, reducing the need for manual follow-ups.Mobile access: FieldPulse’s mobile app allowed the team to access and update their schedules from anywhere, ensuring they were always on top of their game.

Here’s a glimpse into the daily calendar view of my client (once they had everything sorted out).

FieldPulse’s scheduling and dispatch feature proved invaluable in helping their business stay cooler than an air-conditioned home in the summer!

FieldPulse allows you to quickly create professional, accurate estimates, impressing clients (and saving you valuable time).

Let’s break it down for you:

Professional appearance: With FieldPulse, you can create impressive, professional-looking estimates that will wow your clients. Adding your logo, contact information, and even a personalized message is easy.Fast creation: Forget about spending hours handwriting estimates or struggling with complicated management software. FieldPulse’s intuitive interface makes it simple to create an estimate, even if you’re not a tech whiz.Accurate pricing: FieldPulse lets you easily input your pricing for different services, ensuring that your estimates are always accurate. You can also update your pricing anytime, so your estimates will always reflect your current rates.Customizable templates: With FieldPulse, you can create and save templates for different jobs. This means you can quickly create an estimate for a recurring service or a similar job without starting from scratch.

FieldPulse’s estimate feature is another reason home service businesses love this software.

It’s a great way to present your services and pricing in a professional, organized manner, impressing clients and helping you close more deals.

Work Management (Jobs & Tasks)

FieldPulse allows you to manage your jobs and tasks with ease.

The Small Business Bonfire team and I tested this feature (over three months) and found that it’s incredibly intuitive to use.

I’ve also recommended FieldPulse to several clients (for this feature alone).

The ability to manage all your jobs, easily assign users, and create custom subtasks for each one is invaluable to any home service business.

Let’s look at a specific example. I had a residential cleaning client who was able to scale her business (while staying organized) using FieldPulse.

She had struggled for years with their previous system, which was inefficient and cumbersome.

In fact, she was wasting hours manually entering job orders and trying to keep track of who was assigned what.

With FieldPulse, she was able to easily accomplish the following from each new job card:

Create tasksCreate templatesCreate recurring appointments

With FieldPulse’s work management feature, my client was able to streamline her operations and increase efficiency overall.

Here’s a look at one of her job cards with FieldPulse.

She saw a whopping 30% improvement in productivity once she started using FieldPulse to manage her work orders.

Our takeaway: When it comes to managing jobs, FieldPulse is an excellent choice for (just about) any home service business.

Invoicing and Payments

A major pain point for a roofing company client I managed was their invoicing system.

It was an outdated, tedious process that was causing them to lose out on potential profits because of delayed payments and mismanaged invoices.

Fortunately, FieldPulse’s invoicing and payment capabilities were exactly what they needed.

With FieldPulse, they were able to:

Create and send professional invoices: FieldPulse’s feature allowed them to create visually appealing, detailed invoices that could be sent directly to the client via the platform. This reduced the time they spent on manual invoicing dramatically.Set up recurring invoices: Clients with ongoing contracts could set up recurring invoices to automate the billing process, eliminating the need to remember to send out invoices for each billing cycle.Accept multiple payment options: FieldPulse’s platform integrates with several payment gateways, allowing clients to pay using a method most convenient for them, improving their payment collection rate.Automate payment reminders: Instead of manually following up for payments, the management software allowed them to automate payment reminders for their clients, ensuring they got paid on time.Streamline inventory management: FieldPulse asset management software allowed them to quickly track inventory levels from each invoice and purchase materials.

Let’s look at the invoice creation process from their perspective.

They clicked “invoices” and then “create invoice.”

From there, it was as simple as adding a client, adding relevant information, and sending it off!

They especially liked how each item could be added and customized within the invoice, such as the cost of individual asphalt shingles.

Here’s a screenshot to give you some context.

FIeldPulse automatically calculated the cost based on the price of each item and quantity.

This left very little room for clerical errors while creating invoices.

Check out a finished invoice for a roof repair project that my client was able to create in just a few minutes.

The breakdown: FieldPulse’s invoicing and payments feature enabled this roofing company to significantly streamline their billing process and offer their clients a much more professional and efficient payment experience.

The results? A more profitable and smoother-running business. If you’ve been grappling with invoicing issues, FieldPulse might just be the solution you need.

What are the Limitations of FieldPulse?

Even the best management software has its limitations, and FieldPulse is no exception. While it excels in many areas, it does have a couple of downsides.

These include the following:

This can be a bit of an obstacle for businesses on a budget or those who are just starting out.Pricing is limited to one plan – FieldPulse only offers one pricing plan at $99/month. While this is great for teams that need to quickly scale up their operations, it may not be the best option for businesses on a tighter budget.
